What is Accurx?
Accurx is an easy-to-use platform where patients and healthcare professionals communicate.
From 1 September 2026, Brompton Medical Centre will use Accurx Patient Triage as the main way structure of how all your queries will be dealt with.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Accurx Patient Triage?
Accurx Patient Triage is our new online service for contacting the practice.
Accurx is an NHS-approved communication platform used by the majority of GP practices across England. You may already have received text messages, appointment reminders, or other communications from our practice through Accurx.
Accurx Patient Triage allows patients to submit medical or administrative requests online using a simple form. Requests are reviewed by the appropriate member of our team, enabling us to assess patients according to need and direct them to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service.
What does Total Triage mean?
Total Triage means every patient request is reviewed before an appointment or other care is arranged. This helps ensure patients receive the right care from the most appropriate member of the healthcare team.
Why is the surgery introducing Accurx Patient Triage?
As part of a wider transformation programme being implemented across North West London GP practices, Brompton Medical Centre is moving to a Total Triage model.
This approach supports improved access to care and helps ensure patients receive the right care, from the right person, at the right time.
When will the new system start?
Accurx Patient Triage became available on 21 July 2026.
From 1 September 2026, Brompton Medical Centre will use Accurx Patient Triage as the main way for patients to contact the practice.
The Accurx Patient Triage form is available: Monday to Friday: 8am to 6:30pm
We aim to review all requests within 2 working days, although urgent requests may be prioritised and responded to sooner.
To ensure requests can be reviewed safely and appropriately, it may occasionally be necessary to temporarily limit or close the service when demand exceeds available capacity.
How do I submit a request?
You can submit a request through:
The form is designed to be quick and easy to complete and can be accessed on a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
I don't have a computer or smartphone. How can I submit a request?
We are committed to ensuring all patients can access our services.
A family member, friend, carer, or support worker may complete the form on your behalf.
If this is not possible, or you are unable to complete an online request yourself due to accessibility, communication, language, disability, or digital access needs, our Reception Team will be happy to assist you in submitting your request.
Can someone else submit a request on my behalf?
Yes. A family member, friend, carer, or advocate can submit a request on your behalf.
The form includes a section where this can be recorded.
Please note that there may be situations where we need to speak directly with the patient unless consent is already recorded on the patient's medical record.
Will using Accurx affect my access to care?
No. We are committed to ensuring all patients can access our services. If you cannot use the online form independently, support is available from family members, carers, advocates, or our Reception Team.
Can I still have a face-to-face appointment?
Yes. If the clinician reviewing your request feels a face-to-face appointment is required, this will be arranged. Total Triage helps us determine the most appropriate type of appointment based on your needs.
Will I always need an appointment?
No. Many requests can be dealt with without you needing to attend the surgery.
Depending on your request, we may:
- Provide advice by text message
- Respond by telephone
- Arrange a face-to-face appointment
- Signpost you to another appropriate NHS service
- Resolve your request without the need for an appointment
What happens after I submit my request?
Once your request has been reviewed, we will contact you with the most appropriate next step within 2 working days.
What if my problem is urgent?
If you think your problem is urgent during practice opening hours, please submit an Accurx Patient Triage request as soon as possible so it can be clinically assessed.
When the practice is closed, contact NHS 111 by calling 111 or visiting 111.nhs.uk.
For life-threatening emergencies, call 999 immediately.
I have received an invitation to book an appointment. Do I still need to fill out a form?
No. If you have received an invitation from the surgery to book an appointment, please follow the instructions provided in the invitation.
This includes invitations for blood tests, long-term condition reviews, vaccinations and immunisations, cervical screening, NHS Health Checks, medication reviews, and annual reviews.
If you are unsure, please contact the surgery for advice.
How do I request admin or routine care?
You can submit admin and routine care requests through Accurx Patient Triage.
This includes:
- Fit notes (sick letters)
- Repeat prescriptions
- Medication reviews
- Health reviews and checks
- Vaccination requests
We aim to review these requests within 2 working days.
What about telephone and email requests?
From 1 September 2026, all routine patient requests should be submitted through Accurx Patient Triage.
We no longer accept patient requests by email.
Patients who telephone the practice to request an appointment or medical advice will normally be asked to submit an Accurx Patient Triage request. Where patients are unable to complete the form themselves because of accessibility, communication, language or digital access needs, our Reception Team will assist them.
I am on the housebound list. How do I get an appointment?
Our home visiting service remains available for patients who are housebound.
You or someone acting on your behalf may submit an Accurx Patient Triage request. This request will be reviewed in the same way as all other patient requests and, where appropriate, a home visit will be arranged.
If you are unable to submit a request online, please contact the practice and our Reception Team will be happy to assist you.
